Summer Clay Camp for Kids
June 10 @ 1:30 pm – June 12 @ 3:30 pm
Join us in the lower level clay studio for three afternoons of working on the pottery wheel!
Tues June 10th, Wed June 11th and Thurs June 12th from 1:30pm – 3:30pm.
This camp is designed for older kids, or teenagers ages 11 and up – or younger kids with previous experience and an interest in learning the pottery wheel! Thanks to a grant from the Carl & Verna Schmidt Foundation we are able to offer this class at a reduced price. We’ll work on centering clay and learning to pull up a wall to create bowls, cups and more!
We’ll have time to trim our pots and add details like handles for mugs and prepare for the kiln. We’ll learn about clay, glazes and practice wedging and weighing out clay.
With guided instruction, they should be able to make 1-2 pieces per day, there will be an additional cost of $4 each for more than 6 pieces at the end of the camp. We will also make a date later in the month for all the kids to come back and glaze their pottery so they can see the whole process start to finish! Class size limited to six so they will all be guaranteed success at throwing on the wheel!
