SUMMARY:Mother's Day Flower Impressions with Julie Yost
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to bring nature & art together? Come learn the fun art of Tataki Zome – commonly referred to as “flower pounding.” You will create a long-lasting bouquet with this ancient type of natural dyeing that uses a plant’s own pigments and tannins to print on fabric and paper.  This is the perfect springtime craft and just in time for Mother’s Day!  All supplies will be provided for you to make a card and a small tablecloth.  The fabrics are pre-treated to accept and retain the natural dyes. Finished projects can also be used in a pillow\, wall hanging\, or tote bag. We will have hammers available\, but if you’d like to bring your own to see how it compares\, please do. Also\, since pounding can be quite loud\, please bring your own ear protection. [We recommend wearing ear protection in class and when you are doing this at home. We will have ear plugs and some headphones available\, but many people prefer to use their own.] With the knowledge & experience gained in class\, you will be able to enjoy this craft at home all year long!
