DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in infusing texture into your work?  \n\n\n\nJoin Ceramic Artist Steven Showalter at the Crossings Art Center as he shows you how to take your ceramic work to the next level using slip\, stamps and textured roller techniques. \n\n\n\nUsing simple tools\, Steven will show attendees how to mix slip\, discuss colored slip\, and show various slip decorating techniques\, including patterns and dot applications. Steven will also demonstrate creative uses for stamps and textured rollers. Attendees will learn how to get the most out of adding texture to their work to enhance their own style and work with their glazes.  \n\n\n\nSteven will be providing a list of favorite slip/texture tools and recipes. Leave with many new ideas to try! \n\n\n\nSteven Showalter works professionally as a potter and has also taught pottery at Prior Lake High School for the past 23 years. DESCRIPTION:Join us in welcoming Kevin Ewing to Crossings! If you have ever wanted to try wood carving\, now is your chance. Kevin is a retired teacher\, whose passions include detailed wood carving\, building custom furniture\, millwork\, antique restoration and even a bird house or two. Registration includes everything you need to try wood carving and take your ideas into form. We’ll be working with beech wood\, which is a softer wood and great for learning. All supplies are included in your class fee: a set of beginning carving tools\, a table top jig to brace your project\, block of beech wood. Bring your ideas and inspirations and let’s get started!
