The first week we will roll out the clay\, cut into desired shapes\, create textures\, make designs or emboss with stamps or simple tools\, add the holes and dry. Then these will be bisque fired and ready for the next class where we will add glazes (and maybe make more buttons once you find out how easy and fun it is!) \n\n\n\nThen the buttons will go into the kiln for the final firing and be ready to sew onto your favorite garments\, sweaters\, or add some flair to a hat or purse. \n\n\n\nYou can come to any of the class times\, plan on at least two times to finish your buttons\, or come every time and really dive into this fun exploration of clay. Once you see your results and how easy it is – you won’t want to stop! \n\n\n\nThe cost is $12.00 per session\, and includes ten finished buttons. A form of printmaking\, we will cut our own designs into 6″ x 4″ carving blocks. We’ll be using a material softer than traditional linoleum and then working with a water based relief printing ink to make our own prints. Great for making greeting cards or whatever you can dream up! Recently Charlie has been experimenting with using his carved blocks for making impressions in clay at the clay studio in St. Peter where he is a member. But for this class we will be printing on paper. You will be taking your carved blocks home with you for your own future use. The blocks can be used also to stamp onto fabric or other surfaces. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll the supplies will be included. Bring your ideas or just let yourself be inspired during the class. We’ll have lots of art and design books on hand for inspiration. He worked as an art teacher at the Le Sueur – Henderson school district for 29 years and as an adjunct professor at Mankato State University for 28 years.
